Advantages of Membership of the Institution
include:
BELONGING TO A LEARNED SOCIETY WHICH KEEPS MEMBERS
INFORMED ABOUT MODERN TRENDS.
The IDGTE Canadian Branch enables users to compare their operational
experiences. By including engine and component manufacturers and
suppliers as members together with those consulting engineers
involved in diesel engine engine application and technology, a
large resource base has been achieved. As duel-fuel and spark
ignition engines evolved and gas turbines were developed, the
Society expanded to embrace these technologies as well.
OPPORTUNITIES TO ATTEND AND CONTRIBUTE TO TECHNICAL MEETINGS
Every member receives at least 6 papers a year on diverse technical
subjects which are presented and discussed at meetings. IDGTE
Canada has full access to all technical papers presented in London
for distribution to our members.
ANNUAL WORKING COSTS REPORT BENEFITS
Considered the most important publication of the Institution,
this report has been published every year since 1922 and circulated
worldwide. It is based on information received from users in many
countries operating a wide range of reciprocating engines and
gas turbine power plants. The report provides valuable information
to potential engine users. It also enables users to compare their
performance and costs with those of other stations operating on
a similar duty. The report acts as a valuable channel of communications
between users and manufacturers.
VISITS TO OPERATING PLANTS, CO-GENERATION FACILITIES AND OTHER
INSTALLATIONS
A number of site visits are arranged each year and provide an
ideal opportunity for members to meet and discuss matters of mutual
interest with manufacturers and operators. We intend to produce
a video of such visits for members who were unable to attend.
BRANCH MEETINGS, LUNCHES or DINNERS
The Canadian Branch holds meetings where papers will be presented
that will be of special interest to its members. These will serve
as an excellent opportunity to learn about new developments and
technologies in our industry and to meet others that are working
in the industry in varied capacities. Again we intend to produce
a video of presentations for members who were unable to attend.
WEBSITE
Our website will also be a source of information for our members.
We offer free links to members web sites and the opportunity to
place an advert and link on our main page for a small charge.
In conjunction with the Institution's Head Quarters in Bedford
England, we intend to offer an electronic forum where users can
post messages and obtain advise and comments from other users
and members. Technical papers will be available for members to
down load and print.
